HEALTHY LIFE SKILLS WORKSHOP
Introduction
School children are gathered for sports, cadet camps and scout jamborees even class picnics. But health has never been major focus of these activities. Yet, health promotion in the school setting has found to be one of the most effective approaches for health promotion. Such a workshop will give the students the opportunity to learn more about their own health problems and health risks to them by habits, culture and environment.
Objectives
Provide accurate knowledge to young people in school on adolescence and growing up. Give basic facts on HIV/AIDS transmission, methods of prevention and address myths and misconceptions. Reinforce existing positive behavior and instill skills that enable them protect themselves in a safe environment. Develop positive attitudes toward s life Act as springboard to reach out to other young people of their age group.
Why school children?
Focus on health in everyday life activities and inculcate healthy lifestyles, habits and life skills in the school children while their characters are being formed and make them aware of importance of making homes, schools and environment healthy.
Activities
Learn to develop life skills through games and role plays. Problems solving and counseling sessions. Carry out daily exercise sessions. Demonstrate and carryout simple first aid activities. Knowledge of nutrition and eating healthy, balanced meals. Video shows on adolescent health issues. |
